Legion of Honor Hosts FAMSF’s Fifth Annual Mid-Winter Gala, Part 1 of 2

By

Is Saturday the new Monday? Attendees at the fifth annual Mid-Winter Gala (who included more than a few Trainas, Gettys and a Barnett or two, plus Mr. and Mrs. Alex Bolen, of Oscar de la Renta) could be excused for thinking so as they sat down to dinner in the tented court of the Legion of Honor this past weekend: Pride of place on the menu went to A16’s famous meatballs (appearing here with the help of Dan McCall Catering)—usually, of course, you’ve got to brave the restaurant’s Monday-evening crowds to score a plate. Dinner was preceded by a walkthrough (Rye cocktails in hand) of the Annie Leibovitz show and accompanied by a live auction raising $40,000 plus for the museums—congrats to Brian Wilsey for snagging the Leibovitz portrait of Cindy Sherman, and to Robert Mailer Anderson, who’ll have a tree planted in his family’s honor in the de Young’s Osher Sculpture Garden. Finally, DJ Samantha Ronson got everyone up and moving on the dance floor—encore, encore.
