The Power of Choice

NARAL Pro-Choice America, the nation’s leading advocate of personal privacy and a woman’s right to choose, hosted the Power of Choice Luncheon—an event founded by Dagmar Dolby—at The Westin St. Francis. Speaker Nancy Pelosi acted as honorary chair while NARAL President Nancy Keenan went over her vision for the pro-choice movement.

Taste of Asia

The Asian Art Museum kicked off a three-day tour of Asia with its Grand Tasting Gala, presided over by chef Martin Yan. The food- and fun-filled gala brought out more than 300 folks and raised $100,000 for the museum.

Innovation by Design

SFMOMA celebrated the opening of its exhibition, California College of the Arts at 100: Innovation by Design, a tribute to the college's anniversary. The exhibition is now on view until July 3.

My Bad

Apologies to everyone for the blog back-up but my CEO and Supervising Blog Coordinator, the talented Ned "Le Freak" Clarke, had some mishaps and was not here for the past two weeks to aid me in my quest to bring you superior and informative blogage. He informed me that he contracted the "Noro Virus" from accidentally ingesting a chicken wing that he found underneath an old mattress in a Vietnamese massage parlor, causing him to be bedridden for 10 days. Wow.

Galleria Park's Roaring '20s Party

Jewish Museum on the Move

The Contemporary Jewish Museum hosted a breakfast and private tour for the SF Consular Corp that brought together guests from all over the world—Israel, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, France and Hungary to name a few countries. Roselyne Swig, the Board of Trustees chair, gave a preview of the new CJM location due to open in downtown SF towards the end of spring 2008.

SFMOMA Director's Circle

SFMOMA hosted its Director's Circle dinner and lecture for donors contributing a hefty sum (between $15,000 and $24,999) to the museum.

Mid-Winter Gala

The Fine Arts Museums of SF (Legion of Honor and de Young Museum) threw its fourth annual Junior Committee of the Fine Art's Museum Mid-Winter Gala last weekend at the de Young. The black-tie event grossed a whopping $400,000 for the museums. Vanessa Getty (in Lanvin) and Trevor Traina acted as honorary chairs with Allison Speer and Kathryn Lasater as co-chairs.
