Fashion Icon Vivienne Westwood

Last weekend, the de Young Museum opened a three-month long exhibition organized by London's Victoria and Albert Museum, "Vivienne Westwood: 36 Years in Fashion."

According to the de Young, "Known best for her fearless nonconformity, [Vivienne Westwood] ... has a profound respect for the past and looks to it for inspiration. With tradition as her springboard, she takes historic garments such as corsets and crinolines and reinvents them in new ways or uses thoroughly British fabrics like tartans and tweeds to create fashion that gently parodies Establishment styles."

Last Friday, The Little Jim Club of California Pacific Medical Center (SF's oldest fundraising organization for pediatrics) held its Mardi Gras Ball at the St. Regis Hotel. The single-largest fundraiser, Barry Barsamian, was crowned king of the ball.

Fashion Show and Zodiac

So I'm really looking forward to the IMG fashion show with Naomi Campbell on March 15 at Fort Mason. For the record, I have no idea what the hell "IMG" stands for, but more details can be found at Boom selecta!

And since I have nothing more interesting to say on the subject, I'm gonna let my main man, Ned Clarke, who you may remember from "Storytime with Ned" on the recently defunct "Hooman Show," take over and tell a good story about the time he tried to sneak into a fashion show at Fort Mason a couple years ago:

Picasso and American Art

SFMOMA launched two exhibits last Friday:
