1. Mixology Madness: Further proof that the magazine you're reading cares about its readers: in addition to paying yours truly to cover cheap drinks on a weekly basis, 7x7 is now providing them to the public as well. Round two of our in-house mixology challenge takes place at the swanky Cliff House, and participants will sample and vote for the work of the best bartenders in the Haight, West Portal, and Inner Richmond. 2. Haute Dog: With ubiquitous food faces like Ryan Farr and Jamie Lauren devoting themselves to the lost art of hot-dog production, it seems inevitable that an entire event dedicated to franks has sprung up. $5 will buy you one of the various hand-crafted, sustainable, nitrite-free, microwave-what-is-a-microwave dogs, but the real deal is craft beer from Magnolia and 21st Amendment for a very reasonable $3, and wine for $4. (Thursday, August 20th, 4-8pm, at Acme Chophouse, 24 Willie Mays Plaza, Mission Bay.)
3. Perry's 40th Birthday Block Party: While Perry's doesn't have hipness to spare, there's something to be said for any restaurant making it to four decades in business in an age of new-next-now dining (have you seen the lines at Flour + Water?) Admission to the restaurant's birthday shindig is free, and they'll have barbeque and a live band, though it remains unclear whether they'll be charging for the booze (beer, wine, and Bloody Marys). (Sunday, August 23rd, 11am-5pm, at Perry's, 1944 Union St., Cow Hollow.)
4. Bottomless Bellinis: One thing for which we can thank the recession: ultra-sauced bottomless brunches, so common in NYC, are finally making themselves known here on the West Coast. Upping the ante on Luna Park's bottomless mimosas, Harry's Bar is now offering endless Bellinis (that's champagne and peach nectar for the uninitiated) for a mere $10 during weekend brunch. Be sure to tip your waitresses, avoid stumbling into them, etc. (Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-3pm, at Harry's Bar, 2020 Fillmore St., Fillmore.)
5. Parkside Tavern Happy Hour: This Irish-ish new spot is selling itself as "San Francisco pub food" (ploughman's lunch, meet Niman's crunch). But in the face of $3 domestic drafts and $5 calamari, Anchor-steamed mussels, and Irish cheddar mac and cheese during happy hour, even LTB's withering (and rhyming) appraisals are stymied. (Monday-Friday, 3-6pm, at Parkside Tavern, 1940 Taraval St., Parkside.)
