Mammoth Hosts Top Female Boarders, Santogold and Cold War Kids

If you find yourself in the Mammoth area this weekend, don't hesitate to drop by the fifth annual Roxy Chicken Jam, a free three-day fest chock full of fun and top-notch snowboarding. The event will see some of the world's greatest women competitors from more than 10 countries take to the slopes for a purse of $50,000. Additionally, there will be a Mascot Superpipe contest for $6,000.

A six-star TTR event, the Chicken Jam has a strong influence on the outcome of the overall women's ratings. On top of those invited to compete, there will also be an open-entry qualifying round, with the top five finishers in each division (slopestyle and superpipe) advancing to the main event to board alongside the pros.

The events start at 10am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, though the women can be spotted practicing prior to that time beginning at 8:30am. If the weather is unfavorable, the competition may be extended to Monday, as well. On Saturday night at 7pm, SoCal indie act Cold War Kids will take the main stage, followed by Brooklyn-based crooner Santogold, for a free concert you shouldn't pass up.
