Marin Country Mart's Suburban Oasis

With a three-star review from Michael Bauer and Thomas Keller protégés at the helm, chef-owner Jeff Cerciello’s second outpost of Farmshop (pictured above) is easily one of the Bay Area’s best restaurants right now. In addition to looking posh (think teal mohair banquettes and Heath Ceramics subway tiles), the local, seasonal menu is swoon-worthy. Standouts include an appetizer of crispy artichokes and roasted Jidori chicken with a peach mostarda.

Shelf Life

The independent bookseller is going the way of the first edition—that is to say, scarce. But Diesel is keeping the tradition alive at their fourth location with a highly curated selection of titles and high-profile author events.

Hot Workout

The biggest craze in fitness has wheeled into the Bay Area. SoulCycle, with locations in Larkspur and on SF’s Union Street, employs candlelight and killer playlists to make spinning out-of-control fun for the whole body. Everyone is doing it.

Beauty Bar

The Anglophile’s answer to Sephora, Space.NK is an upscale, stark-white store of hand-picked beauty products from around the world. The London-based apothecary specializes in nontoxic, holistic skincare. Look for Eve Lom cleansers, Tocca perfumes, Serge Normant hair-care goods, and those coveted blotting papers from local brand Tatcha.

Mix + Match

Since it was acquired by Gap earlier this year, a Bay Area outpost for the New York-based chain Intermix seemed a no-brainer. A go-to for shoppers seeking trends high and low, the shop stocks such labels as Barbara Bui, Helmut Lang, and Chloe.
