Marin County Parks, Demo Sport and Nick’s Cove throw a party on the water every year, and you're invited. Celebrate the end of summer with the Hog Island Huff, a challenging opportunity to flex your standup paddleboarding skills during a 3.5 mile course that winds through sandbars and channels, around Hog and Duck Islands, and finishes up at the launch site. The cherry on top? After all your hard work, Nick’s offers up a private lunch menu including $1 raw oysters. So worth it! Begins at 8 am, ends at noon. $20 registration fee for racers. Meet at Miller Boat Launch on Hwy 1 (2.5 miles north of the US Post Office in Marshall). For directions and questions, click here.

Ren faire fans, this is your weekend. Pile all your costumes in a car, head across the bridge for the fourth annual Much Ado About Sebastopol Harvest Renaissance Faire. You'll be transported to the 16th Century for a gorgeous apple harvest celebration, which means two days of historical re-enactments, entertainment (like parades, storytelling, and sword fighting!), and games for the entire family. Refreshments range from grilled turkey legs and sausages to gallettes and crepes to seafood, artisan cheeses, chocolates, and more. The Fenford's Pip and Vine Tavern, sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company, will serve local high-end wine, hard cider and beer. Yum! Saturday Sept. 14, 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday September 15, 10 am to 5 pm. For details, click here.

Sunday, September 15

This Sunday, unwind on the waterfront in Marin to the soothing sounds of the renowned Marin Symphony for their Waterfront Pops Concert. Starting at 6 pm, it's the perfect weekend nightcap that you can bring your friends and family to; and they won't be playing only classical stuff (though we love that too). From movie music to classic masterpieces and family favorites (like Superman, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Star Wars Medley, Harry Potter Symphonic Suite, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark and more), Maestro Alasdair Neale will lead his accomplished players during this awesome evening show which climaxes in fireworks! Marin Center Fairgrounds and Lagoon Park in San Rafael. General admission tickets are $30. For more info, click here.
