Weekend Warriors: Spend a Day in Larkspur Circle

Weekend Warriors: Spend a Day in Larkspur Circle

By

There are certain blocks in the Bay Area that are ripe for adventure. Each weekend, we'll highlight a stretch of pavement where you could spend an entire day and night. This week: Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur.

How to Get There (For Free)

The best part of this weekened adventure is that you can get there for free! Yes, free! Just print out your voucher here, for a complimentary Golden Gate Ferry ride on select trips from San Francisco to Larkspur. It's only good for one way, but customers at the Marin Country Mart will receive a return voucher. Which brings me to my next item ...

Where to Pick Up Snacks

One you're in Larkspur, there's really one place you need to go for quality veggies and entertainment: the Marin County Mart Farmer’s Market(Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.). Apart from their normal agenda packed with crafts, a petting zoo, cooking demonstrations, face painting, and live music, this month you'll also be among the first to pick up jumbo organic asparagus and traditional Irish soda bread in honor of St. Patty.

If you're looking for a more robust meal while you peruse the stands, stop by Belcampo Meat. Cofor a gourmet hot dog, and Rustic Bakery for hot, homemade sourdough bread to chew while you walk.

Where to Shop

We pretty much love everything that Unionmade has ever created, but make sure to stop by for their new Spring collection featuring Kenneth Field, the Levi's Vintage Collection, and New York designer Alexander Olch.

Where to Go for Happy Hour

To fortify yourself between shops, stop by Marin Brewing Co. One of the few restaurants in Marin that serves a full menu until midnight seven days a week, the brewery features classic pub dishes like fish & chips and bangers & mash, as well as wood fired pizzas, juicy burgers, fresh salads, and savory sandwiches. If it's a nice day, enjoy a blueberry, raspberry or peach beer on their expansive outdoor patio - that'll put you in the mind for spring.

Where to Get Dinner

Marin isn't exactly known for authentic Mexican cuisine, but El Huarache Loco is bringing their Mission roots to the North Bay. Born out of La Cocina's incubator, El Huarache Loco just opened their first restaurant in Larkspur this year. Order the namesake huarache – a Mexico City specialty – comprised of a flat corn masa base and your pick of bountiful topping. Their specialties include duck mole, squash blossoms, and the Mexican BLT.

Where to Get Dessert

Farmshop Marin has an expansive dessert, wine, port, and cocktail menu - but do not be fazed – you're here to try the cheese. From Cowgirl Creamery's Red Hawk to extra mature Cheddar with maple-coconut chocolate and salted peanut brittle, you really can't go wrong. And if afterwards you still want to spring for that Valrhona Dark Chocolate Cake (with frog hollow farm dried peaches and whipped crème fraiche) or the Hot Fairy dessert cocktail (St. George absinthe, Carols irish creme, valrhona chocolate, & chili flakes), I won't blame you.

Where to Treat Your Pup

Of course your furry best friend should come along on this weekend adventure! And you'll find everything to fit his canine needs (from chic beds to cute dog-themed stationery for you) at George. At the very least stop in because there's bound to be treats.
