Jams We Love: 7x7's Weekly Playlist

For our column Jams We Love, we're turning you onto the songs that keep us going every day. Get ready for more rain....and a few tunes to go along with it.

1. Paul & Linda McCartney, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"

This mini opus is simultaneously one of the most ambitious and silly song of McCartney's solo arsenal. But the love he and wife Linda share for each other is palpable and unforgettable in this extended jam about who-knows-what. If they wrote it for any reason, it was to inspire an awesome time stuck indoors on a rainy day.

2. The Doors, "Riders on the Storm"

Gloomy, meandering, uncertain–just like my thoughts on a drippy, dark day. It was one of the last great songs the King of Lizards wrote before he exiled himself to Paris and drowned in a bathtub.

3. Slayer, "Raining Blood"

Forget acid rain. One of the most classic metal face-melters ever written goes straight for the red stuff raining from the sky as a metaphor for the return to life of a damned soul. Luckily, we won't be seeing any of that, this week at least.

4.Fleetwood Mac, "Brown Eyes"

If you're sitting around contemplating a broken relationship, this ominous, alluring sleeper jam confusingly cooed to perfection by Christine McVie could count as your personal soundtrack.

5. Beach House, "Walk in the Park"

My personal favorite song from their last album Teen Dream (I've currently been listening to their newest, Bloom, for a week solid, but those tracks are still mostly under wraps, thanks to the RIAA cops), this song lures you under its spell in just the first few languid seconds, just like the sound, smell and sight of falling rain. And Victoria LeGrande's voice sounds like your mother singing you a sweet lullaby. What more could you ask for in a song?
