Jams We Love: 7x7's Weekly Playlist

By

We're dedicating this week's Jams We Love to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, which hits Golden Gate Park this weekend. These songs highlight just a few of the acts we're most looking forward to catching this year–there are way too many to throw in a single playlist!

Hunchback by Kurt Vile> by Richard

1. Kurt Vile & The Violators, "The Hunchback"

This is easily one of the best epic jams Kurt Vile and his band does (and boy, do they excel at those). Like Crazy Horse in their heyday, once this group gets into the groove, it has a hard time quitting. Once you hear this turned way up, you won't want them to either.

2. Dr. John, "Right Place, Wrong Time"

Classicfunky jam from this Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer. We hope he recreates his 70s medicine-show style vibe for his performance this weekend.

3. Buckethead, "Spokes In The Wheel Of Torment"

You have to watch the video for this one, because it's a genius riff on Hieronymus Bosch's artwork. Can you imagine this song being so ferociously loud that it knocks Merle Haggard (we love you Merle, really) off the stage? Although Buckethead can breakout a guitar ballad when wants, he wins the award for strangest HSBG festival appearance ever.

4. Chris Isaak, "Wicked Games"

What is there to say? No song will be able to turn up the romance at HSBG like this one, even if the music video won't be accompanying it. C'est la vie.

5. Those Darlins, "Screws Get Loose"

These alt-country babes had quite the break-out 2011. They get totally unhinged onstage with their charming snarls and wild guitar playing. Theirs is a show not to miss.
