It's been all over the news today, but in case you haven't heard, this year's Bridge School Benefit lineup was announced, and it looks like there'll be no duds like last year (Guns n' Roses, we're looking at you). Set to appear are Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Queens of the Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, the Killers, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Fun. (curious...), Heart and Jenny Lewis. As usual they'll all deliver acoustic performances. It all goes down Oct. 26 and 27. [via Rolling Stone]

Oakland's Meat Market premiered a raucous B-side instrumental track entitled "The Return of Prince Donathunn" off their recent 7-inch on Suicide Squeeze Records. They're like FIDLAR mixed with T. Rex, and we like it. [via Noisey]

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is back this year, picking itself up by its bootstraps after the passing of Warren Hellman with a solid lineup of stars and up-and-comers. There are too many to list here, but the ones that scream out to us at first glance are: Father John Misty, MC Hammer, First Aid Kit, Calexico, Elvin Bishop, The Flatlanders, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Ralph Stanley, Emmylou Harris, the Allah Las, and Chris Isaak. After seeing them play a few years' worth of shows around the city, riff-loving maniacs CCR Headcleaner are finally set to drop their debut LP, entitled Lace the Earth. Get a taste with their track "Steal the Light" here. We dare you to turn it up as loud as their shows are. [via email PR land]

Psychedelic juggernauts Wooden Shjips make their sonic return this November, and we're so happy, we consider it an early birthday present. As a follow-up to their last LP West, Back To Land will revisit "psychedelic staples like the Grateful Dead and Crazy Horse," and "is the most melodically direct Wooden Shjips album yet, and their new defining statement," according to Thrill Jockeys press release. And last but not least, Sacramento's most feather-ruffling band Death Grips got the mash-up treatment this week with a most unlikely companion band: Death Cab For Cutie. Entitled Death Grips for Cutie, it combines both band’s catalogs, most notably Exmilitary and NO LOVE DEEP WEB with Transatlanticism and Plans, respectively. You'll just have to listen to believe it.
