In Le Club: Gin And Cherry Juice At The Bold Italic Soiree
Lord, I love a good midweek party -- and I especially adore discovering a new nightspot.
The relatively new Bold Italic site -- a Yelp-ish online entity dedicated to insider tips -- complied with an event at Le Club. I’d never been to the Nob Hill venue -- once a private club and now helmed by the owner of Bambuddha Lounge -- but my, oh, my, it was a deco revelation. The vibe was ‘20s-era speakeasy with chandeliers, plenty of cozy corners and a hideaway pool room. I felt like I had been spirited away to a posh lounge overseen by my coquettish, ex-Ziegfeld showgirl grandma.
The theme of the event dovetailed perfectly with the space: guys and dolls mainlining a ‘20s and ‘30s Bonnie and Clyde/Great Gatsby styles checked out the open bar featuring Distillery No. 209 gin cocktails like the refreshing, maraschino cherry-infused Aviation, partook in cream puffs, snapped B&W pics in the photo booth, and listened to ukulele sounds over chess tables. I hear the bash is the first in a slew of paid parties that the Bold Italic will be throwing -- I know I’ll be back to the discreet Le Club the next chance I get.
