Will You Pay For Pandora?
The phrase "to good to be true" has always been put to the test by Pandora. Since inception the internet radio station changed the way people listened to music by providing an easy to use listening forum that seemed to have a limitless catalogue of music. Just type in an artist, create a station and play... for FREE. Well, all good things come to an end. In the case of Pandora, that happens after 40 hours. An email surfaced today, sent from Pandora's founder Tim Westergren that states the site will "begin limiting listening to 40 hours per month on the web." Thanks to the Internet radio royalty ruling of 2007 which increased the amount of royaties web-based broadcasts are required to pay, sites like Pandora will have to charge to stay alive. For Pandora, it's not much, only $0.99 for an unlimited number of hours after your 40 hours for the month are up or $36 a year for what they call "Pandora One." Fortunatley, they've created a counter to let you know how many hours you have left. So, listen responsibly.
