As if you needed more reasons to attend this year’s Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, the organizers have gone and added even more artists to the already packed lineup. Taking place in Golden Gate Park August 28th-30th, the second annual, three-day extravaganza features headliners like Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Beastie Boys, Incubus, Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Jason Mraz, Modest Mouse, and TV on the Radio. And just added to the long list of musical heavyweights are new additions Lucinda Williams, Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, The Avett Brothers, Bat for Lashes and Los Campesinos. Also added are local Bay Area talents Tea Leaf Green, Zion I, Big Light, Darondo with Nino Moschella and Groundation.
After a wildly successful kick-off year, Outside Lands is back and better than ever. With a ton of new eco-initiatives for ’09 (including organic food, bicycle valet, and Eco Lands – “An Interactive Conservation Happening”), the festival continues to do its part in preserving its treasured Golden Gate Park venue. For winos and foodies alike, the Winehaven tent in the Speedway Meadow will feature dozens of California’s top winemakers and great local chefs. Plenty of more activities have yet to be announced, so keep an eye on 7x7.com and http://www.sfoutsidelands.com for the latest info.
If you’re still ticket-less, get yourself over to http://www.sfoutsidelands.com/tickets/index.php ASAP to purchase General Admission or VIP 3-Day Passes. The kind folks behind the festival have even set-up a Layaway plan for those who can’t pay the total costs up front. Or, if you're feeling artsy/literary, submit to our Neighborhoods Issue. We'll pick one photo and one essay to win VIP tickets to the festival.
The annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival is produced by Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Productions and Starr Hill Presents, in a partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
