Estate Planning For You and Your ... Pet

You never know what's going to happen in life, which is why everyone should live by the Boy Scout's motto: be prepared. Luckily, the SF SPCA thinks of everything. This weekend, they're hosting a seminar called Estate Planning for You and Your Pet, featuring a panel of experts to help you make tough decisions when you need to.
On Saturday, June 25, learn why estate sale planning, charitable lead and remainder trusts and pet trusts (remember Leona Helmsley and her Matlese Trouble?) are essential, with lectures from attorneys Susanna Poon, Julie K. Kwon, and Veronica Cerruti. You'll get to ask questions, and learn how to prepare for the future of your canine and feline family members. RSVP here (or call 415-522-3548) by June 24th, because seating is limited.
The seminar starts at 10:30 am and goes until 12 pm at the SF SPCA Training Annex, 243 Alabama Street.

We think seminars of the type described are necessary and extremely useful.
We also believe that animals humanize us and remind us of our obligations and responsibilities to each other. Our intention was that our recent book ‘Fat Cats & Lucky Dogs’ would be a vehicle for sharing information and ideas with the general public; for providing more detailed guidance to those who would like to explore planning possibilities for their families and pets; and for stimulating people to take action while they are able to do so.
The main reason we wrote the book was to bring these considerations, among others, to the minds and hearts of as many people as possible to encourage their participation in improving the care and comfort of all species with which we inhabit our planet (including companion animals). Our goal was to secure the widest distribution of this transformative information as possible.
We believe our book is of value to everyone concerned with companion animal care and would be of significance for all animal lovers. We trust that you might see it as a comprehensive reference guide and would be comfortable to recommend it to all animal caregivers and animal lovers.
We look forward to hearing back from you with any comments or suggestions should you be kind enough to write.
Sincerely,
Barry Seltzer & Professor Gerry W. Beyer
