Q: My dogs (a Jack Russell and a Dachshund) seem to resent the fact that my baby is walking. They urinate on his crib and Pack-N-Play, on the floor, etc. It is getting to be too much for this mother. What to do?

Head to SoMA for this summer's second Yapsie Pupcrawl, in which you and a group of like-minded doggie enthusiasts go on a kind of pubcrawl beyond just bars (oh, but there will be bars!) to explore the 'hood on a micro level, be outside and connect face to face, mano a mano, with other pet owners.

Help the SF SPCA Raise Funds for Rescue Dog Alpha's Heart Surgery

As we move into the weekend, many of us will be enjoying time with our friends and families. We at the SF SPCA will be closely monitoring the recovery of a sweet-as-pie 2 year old shepherd named Alpha. Alpha came to us with a litter of puppies, all of whom have found loving homes. But shortly thereafter, we discovered that Alpha had a congenital heart defect that would be life threatening if not corrected.

A few tips:

If this is your first cat:

You’ll want to start with introducing your new kitty to a small space like a bathroom or laundry room. Keep the cat in the carrier while you are setting up the room, allowing him to adjust to the sounds and smells.

Q: My Maltipoo is six years old and in the last 6 weeks has developed brown spots/pigmentation all over his pink skin. Should I be concerned about the change? What could cause this?

It's Kitten Season!

Cats in the Bay Area are in full reproductive swing right now thanks to slightly warmer weather, which means kittens are flooding places like the SFSPCA, just waiting to be adopted into loving new homes. Look at these little guys and girls! Talk about eye candy. In honor of this special time of the year, they're offering adoption deals like two-for-one kittens. Call them for details.

But don't forget about the older kitties in shelters too. They need your love as well, and there are a million reasons to love "senior kittizens" just as much as their tiny, furball counterparts. The kittens below are just a slice of what the SFSPCA has to offer. Click on their names to learn how you can adopt them!
