Sweat SF: Learn the Sweaty Art of Chair Seduction with MoveWith

New fitness app MoveWith provides an inspired fitness community with trailblazing instructors and one-of-a-kind classes. The teacher-centric platform encourages new ways to move, such as Chair Affair a fun class where you can learn the sweaty art of seduction and how to work a chair like Queen Bey.

“There is no better way to support good habits than to create a powerful platform to find and connect with the teachers and communities that inspire you to move,” Holly Shelton, founder and CEO of MoveWith explains. The user-friendly online and mobile platform offers both studio and original classes from a curated set of top teachers.

Since launching, MoveWith teachers have created classes such as RunYoga, Body Fix, Hip Hop Yoga in a Nightclub, Train from the Trails and one class we simply had to check out this week: Chair Affair. What happens behind closed curtains Tuesday nights at Sweat Republic stays behind closed curtains. Chair Affair’s creator Shonna Chiles combines modern choreography and sensuality for a fun, sweaty, and sexy 60 minutes.

From the beginning of class Shonna emphasized, “be confident, work it, and don’t worry about anyone but yourself, it’s just you and a chair.” Thankfully for my chair we had some time to warm up first. Under dimmed lights, class kicked off with some stretches and simple dance moves. Once we were loose and had gotten a few giggles out of the way, we heated things up by strutting across the floor. “Hands, hips, hair, always hair,” Shonna instructed as she demonstrated a seductive walk.

After mastering, or at least improving, our suggestive saunters, it was time to work the chairs. While Shonna taught the routine like most dance classes (breaking it into 8 counts at a time), the moves and intentions were far from ordinary. In between hips sways and hair flips, she reminded us to just let go and simply have fun. While some moves were more technical than others, regardless of experience or flexibility everyone was able to add their own personalities into the dance (which in my case was a lot of laughing).

We can’t wait to see what the MoveWith teachers come up with next and in the meantime, I'll still be strutting my stuff to Pillowtalk.
