Prep for the Weekend With Five New SF Brunch Spots

Prep for the Weekend With Five New SF Brunch Spots

By

Tired of your usual brunch options? Well, you’re in luck, because our city keeps adding awesome new brunch services. Wake up and smell the poached eggs with braised duck ragout.

Namu Gaji

Weekday brunch, it’s a good thing to have at your fingertips when you're playing hooky, or perhaps you’re self-employed and get to make your own hours, thank you very much. Swing by for some loco moco action, challah French toast, kimchi fried rice (with 4505 hot dogs), and their okonomiyaki is the ticket. Look at that, it’s Michelada o’clock. Wed–Fri 11:30am-4pm and Sat–Sun 10:30am–4pm. 499 Dolores St.

Little Chihuahua

A local favorite has started weekend brunch at all three locations (starting at 10am), with breakfast tacos (yeah!), breakfast burritos, chile rellenos, and Mexican French toast. Sightglass coffee will help get you with the living, while a mimosa can get you into your weekend groove. Multiple locations: 292 Divisadero St.; 4123 24th St.; 581 Valencia St.

Café Claude

The Marina location is now serving weekend brunch (10am–3pm), with a lineup of croques (it’s always about the madame, isn’t it?) as well as a savoyard, with bacon, tomato, and greens. Omelet, check. Le burger, too. If you like something sweeter, there’s pain perdu. Angle for one of the sunny tables by the window. 2120 Greenwich St.

Padrecito

Mexican brunch is just so damn good, and Padrecito looks like they want to live up to that rep with dishes like a quesadilla with bacon and white cheddar, chilaquiles (with pork belly, fava beans, and asparagus, whoa!), polenta-platano “pancakes,” and sopes de machaca with brisket and eggs. Yeah, I’ll take one of each. And a side of lamb chorizo. Brunch cocktails, oh you know it. And Friday hours, sweet! Fri-Sun 11am–2:30pm. 901 Cole St.

Verbena

This brand-new weekend brunch (launching on April 5th) is going to feature a range of dishes, from a fried egg sandwich to the chance to have their killer broccoli and cheddar with soft-cooked eggs. Other picks include sourdough pancakes, French toast, and some more lunchy items like a pork trotter terrine with fried quail eggs and chile oil. There are also brunch cocktails, and outdoor seating, perfect for our impending sunny spring mornings. 11am–2:30pm, 2323 Polk St.
