Your Guide to Pride: Sunday, June 24

By

Sunday is the penultimate day of the largest LGBT gathering in the nation. Along with the world famous parade, there is also a multitude of parties and other events scattered throughout the city. Here is our breakdown for you.

Main Stage/Civic Center
The Main Stage is the largest stage at the SF Pride Celebration and is the focal point for the celebrations. It is located in Civic Center Plaza next to City Hall. On Sunday it plays host to the most exciting, up-and-coming cutting-edge talent, as well as world-renowned performers, and the best of local entertainment from the Bay Area. Revelers of all sexual orientations (gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, queers and straights too!) will congregate around the main stage to listen to the many musical acts, cultural performances and speeches from the rainbow community. Headlining Main Stage is the viral duo sensation Karmin. The full list of performers can be located here. Civic Center

The Parade
The Pièce de résistance of the Pride Festival is definitely the parade. The Parade kicks off at 10:30 am at Market and Beale and ends at Market and 8th Street in downtown San Francisco. Upwards of  a million people come and watch the parade go past, so if you wanted to get a prime position, it is wise to get there hours in advance. There also Grandstand seating for those who would rather see the parade in comfort and style, as opposed to roughing it with the rest of the proletariat. The Pride Grandstands are located toward the end of the Parade route at UN Plaza on the north side of Market Street between 7th and 8th Streets. Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased here until sold out. The 2012 San Francisco Pride theme is "Global Equality" and that will be reflected in the parade, with participants costumes and floats designed to match. Market Street @ 8th Street.
