This Stunning Carmel Home Was Designed Around a 100-Year-Old Oak Tree

Perched atop the Santa Lucia mountains in Carmel, this serene home is meant for someone who wants to spend their life outside.

Ranch OH perfectly marries classic ranch charm with a minimalistic, modern aesthetic. Designed by award-winning San Francisco-based firm Feldman Architecture and landscape designers Bernard Trainor+ Associates, the house is built in a horseshoe shape around a 100-year-old Valley Oak—which provides shade for the surrounding courtyard. The exterior features pre-weathered corrugated steel cladding and buff limestone walls while the interiors feature a soft palette of cedar-clad ceilings, oil-rubbed steel, and exposed concrete floors.

At the entry level, the outdoor living room looks out onto a gorgeous 70-foot pool, while the indoor living room's large windows offer a dramatic view of the surrounding mountains. Next to the living room is a kitchen full of white cabinetry and a large island, whose windows face the courtyard. A steel and a glass staircase leads to the upper level where a home office and a private deck are located.

The house is also equipped with smart home technology provided by Savant. With a simple tap of the app, the owner can turn on the heat, the lights, and the music from anywhere in the house.

Here are the specs:

Location: Santa Lucia Mountains, Carmel
