Bar Crudo, which recently relocated from its longtime home next to the Tunnel Top bar, is a welcome addition to its new neighborhood. The sleek, narrow restaurant sits directly across from The Independent and is perfect for a quick bite before catching a show. Ask for a table upstairs, where the bare-bulb lighting is dim but the atmosphere is cozier and more spacious.
Happy hour (Mon.-Fri., 5-6:30 p.m.) would be your best bet for cheap drinks and samplers from the raw bar and kitchen. $1 oysters, a $5 cup of seafood chowder, two fish tacos for $10, $5 house wine and $3 draft beer will whet your appetite. If you stick around for more, try the lobster, beet and burrata salad and indulge in the extensive beer list. Portions are small, so use this spot as your pre-dinner outpost.
