When you’re dealing with one of the new businesses setting up shop in the Presidio and it comes time for your next power lunch, look no further than Dish Café, the cute-as-a-button eatery housed inside the San Francisco Film Centre. Presidio regulars will remember it as Desirée; the same order-at-the-counter-then-take-a-seat protocol remains. Local art adorns the walls, kicking the cafe’s homespun feeling up a notch.
Everything on the menu, which changes every few days, is made from scratch, using sustainable, organic ingredients. Choices include a niçoise salad with seared ahi, a crisp grilled-flatbread pizza topped with homemade sausage, Asiago cheese and fresh herbs, and a sandwich stuffed with slices of house-roasted beef, white cheddar, caramelized onions and horseradish cream. Eating here, you can even feel good about supporting a worthy cause: Dish’s owners run the Real Lunch program, which prepares healthful meals for students at SF’s Bay School and Cathedral School for Boys.
