Although it’s definitely the neighborhood’s “nice meal out” destination, you don’t need to dress up for dinner in this cozy, yellow-walled two-room restaurant—unless, that is, you’re sitting in one of the window tables. (Then you’re on show to all the urban villagers as they make their rounds from video store to the Good Life grocery to the library to yoga class.)
People come from all over the city for the chicken pot pie, but don’t overlook the pastas or the hearty, often French-inspired meat dishes (cassoulet with duck-leg confit, for instance). If you’re in the mood for something lighter, head to the rear of the building to the backyard bakery, which at 5:30 p.m. turns into a wine bar with a light menu of pizzas and the like.
MUST ORDER: Chicken Pot Pie
