SCENE: There’s a reason for the Vegas-style red-velvet booths—the kitschily glam space morphs into Rouge nightclub after 9:30 p.m. Those lucky enough to work in the neighborhood gather here for a midday break; later, hipsters stop by for dinner.
EATS:
Thick, salty chips served with salsa and guacamole are the way to start. Then move on to the pescado tacos, Baja-style fried fish with lime mayonnaise in a corn tortilla. If you’ve got an extra-hearty appetite, add a carnitas quesadilla—shredded pork, pico de gallo and Jack cheese—to your order. Nick is no longer in the kitchen, but, we’re happy to report the party goes on.
