Scenes of the City: America's Cup Opener

By

Despite the lack of competition, it was a thrilling and beautiful day to be out watching the first day of the America's Cup sailing, with Emirates Team New Zealand reaching almost 50 mph on the water. The Luna Rossa Challenge team sat out Sunday's opener due to a rule dispute, so Emirates Team New Zealand sailed alone, picking up the first point.

Plenty of people joined the festivities, led by Maori dancers, jazz bands and all sorts of activities at the America's Cup Park. Enjoy the slideshow and look out for more America's Cup coverage while the action lasts.
