Scenes of the City: Homemade, Preserved Goodies at Emmy's Pickles

By

For this week's Scenes of the City we hung out with husband and wife team Emmy Moore and Jonah Susskind for some pickling action.

The two of them have been hand preserving all sorts of goodies as Emmy's Pickles since 2010. It all started with a desire to promote sustainable consumption, and they were able turn their passion for pickling into a business.

Emmy's Pickles now boasts 12 different preserves including pomegranate jelly, turmeric cauliflower, golden beet, and of course pickles, just to name a few.

We sat in on the pickling of whole dills, spears, and bread and butter pickles. Step by step we watched as the San Francisco natives hand-cut the locally sourced and organic veggies. Try some for yourself at a local store, and enjoy the photos.
