Take part in Sketch Tuesdays at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. The 2-in-1 art gallery and coffee bar hosts a drop-in art event for visitors to sketch, watch, and converse about all things art. The art is then sold at the venue for pretty affordable prices – so get your art collecting on and check out the local creative scene in downtown SF. Rejoice that it’s the weekend for one more reason: every weekend Oakland Art Murmur presents Saturday Stroll, a more subdued but not any less vibrant version of its counterpart, First Friday. Open every Saturday afternoon, the weekly event provides a dedicated time frame for attendees to chat with gallery directors and thoughtfully view art. Check out the online schedule and see which artist panels, receptions, film screenings, and trunk shows are coming up. From showrooms displaying glacial forms and interactive installations to digital media and ink and gouache paintings, there is something unique for everyone to see and discover. While some – okay, let’s be real – most of us are obsessed with capturing fleeting moments and pushing them out to the digital world, artist Margo Wolowiec wants to immortalize these moments in textiles via her exhibit, "Following." Through undecipherable color patterns and a subliminal ink process, her artwork informs viewers about the rapid unraveling of the importance of material goods; her work is a cross between performance art and structure.
