As reported a while ago on Apartment Therapy, Shabby Chic, the quinessential early 90s decor brand famous for comfy couches and white-washed "French Country"-inspired furniture, filed for bankruptcy. Blame it on the economy or the public's shift towards a more minimalist aesthetic, but owner Rachel Ashwell (who first hoped to maintain some of the stores) has now had to shut down the whole operation.
