'So You Think You Can Lap Dance?' Comes to the Tenderloin

By

While others among the 7x7 editorial team instantly deleted an email this morning with the subject line, "So You Think You Can Lap Dance?" I, for one, saw promise. Turns out, the attention-grabbing one-liner is also a new monthly event at PianoFight in the Tenderloin.

As the email which in fact was not spam states:

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN LAP DANCE? Will be a monthly event at PianoFight in SF's Tenderloin starting April 10th and continuing through July on the second Friday of each month. Each show will have 6 dancers, 3 judges, and 1 host.  The dancers will perform fiercely improvised modern lap dances to audience volunteers, to songs selected by the audience. There will be an opportunity for a brave audience volunteer to come up and attempt to out-lap-dance our performers, and take home the STUNNING prize of a sprinkled donut, and a $25 dollar gift certificate to ROSS Dress for LESS. This event will be really fun, a great date night, rowdy friend night, or pre-cursor to the next event in store.

A gift certificate to Ross?! Beth Spotswood, we can split the winnings!

But seriously, PianoFight is cool. As Sarah Lee wrote back in December, the 50-person company "composed of artists of all stripes and disciplines—film, theater, comedy, dance, music, visual art....promises to breathe new life into the local drama scene."

To make a total and perfect fool of yourself, head to PianoFight from 10:30-11:30pm (April 10th, May 8th, June 12, and July 10), 144 Taylor St., SF.
