Sony Plots Seasonal Giveaways Throughout Bay Area for Upcoming 'Arthur Christmas'

Forget Fred Claus. (You already have? Great!) The "12 Days of Arthur Christmas" – Sony's upcoming animated fantasy about Santa's clumsy but well-meaning son, entrusted to deliver an overlooked gift before the holiday morning – kick off tomorrow at the Union Square Ice Rink, where guests of all ages are invited to make seasonal greeting cards, play games and roll around in a designated snow zone.

Those in attendance will receive a complimentary pair of movie-style Elf Ears, and will be eligible for special giveaways, including passes to an advance screening of the critically acclaimed comedy, due Nov. 23. The festivities begin promptly at 11 a.m. Other Arthur-related events unfolding over the next 11 days include:

Day 2:Sunday, Nov.13
Arthur Christmas at the 49ers Kid Zone, Candlestick Park: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
All ticketholders to San Francisco's afternoon contest against the New York Giants are invited to play Christmas-themed games and receive special giveaways.

Day 3:Monday, Nov. 14
Holly Jolly Story Time at Barnes & Noble, San Bruno: 10 – 11 a.m.
Visitors are welcome to attend a reading of classic yuletide yarns while  decorating holiday cookies.

Day 4:Tuesday, Nov. 15
Christmas Tree Lighting at Santana Row, San Jose: 10:30 a.m., 3 – 9 p.m.
Visitors are invited to create holiday ornaments, play elf games and drink complimentary hot chocolate.

Day 5:Wednesday, Nov. 16
Kid’s Art Day at the Museum of Children’s Art, Oakland: 2 – 5 p.m.
Check out MOCHA on Ninth Street for a chance creating Arthur-themed holiday crafts. Open to the public.

Day 6:Thursday, Nov. 17
Arthur Christmas Skates with the Sharks at HP Pavillion, San Jose: 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Arthur stops by San Jose's Thursday home game against the hated Detroit Red Wings for an evening of free giveaways at the movie's booth on the concourse level.

Day 7:Friday, Nov. 18
Arthur’s Holly Jolly Christmas Party at the Hillsdale Mall, San Mateo: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Stop by the mall's annual tree lighting and have your picture taken with Santa. While you're there, grab some of Arthur’s hot chocolate, play Christmas games and decorate snowmen to take home. Open to the public.

Day 8:Saturday, Nov. 19
Grandsanta’s Grand Screening at the AMC Metreon: 11 a.m.
Grandparents are invited to bring their grandkids and their favorite ugly sweater to special advance screening of Arthur Christmas. (Tickets will be distributed to lucky winners at the previous week's events.) The best sweater will receive a "grand" giveaway.

Operation North Pole Post at the Sony Style Store, Palo Alto: All Day
Patrons are welcome to write a letter to Santa.

Day 9:Sunday, Nov. 20
Elf-tastic Tree Lighting Celebration at Pier 39: 12 – 6 p.m.
Visit the Arthur Christmas booth at the Pier 39 annual tree lighting to decorate cookies, fill out activity sheets and play Christmas games to win special prizes. Open to the public.

Day 10: Monday, Nov. 21
Arthur Christmas Ice Cream Special at Mitchell’s on San Jose Ave: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Stop by Mitchell’s for a special Arthur Christmas sundae. Every sundae comes with a free movie giveaway. Open to the public.

Day 11: Tuesday, Nov. 22
Arthur Christmas Covert Cupcake Operation at Cupcake Cove, Pine St:
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Order the North Pole Icing on your cupcake and receive movie-related giveaways. Open to the public.

Day 12: Wednesday, Nov. 23
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas at the AMC Metreon: 3 – 6 p.m.
Join the opening-day bash as Arthur Christmas arrives in theaters. Activities will include ornament decorating, wrapping competitions, ugly sweater giveaways and more. Open to the public.
