SpaceX Plans to Send 2 Tourists Around Moon in 2018, New York Times


SpaceX, the ambitious rocket company headed by Elon Musk, wants to send a couple of tourists around the moon and back to Earth before the end of next year. If they manage that feat, the passengers would be the first humans to venture that far into space in more than 40 years.

Mr. Musk made the announcement on Monday in a telephone news conference. He said two private individuals approached the company to see if SpaceX would be willing to send them on a weeklong cruise, which would fly past the surface of the moon — but not land — and continue outward before gravity turned the spacecraft around and brought it back to Earth for a landing. Virgin Releases Details on New San Francisco Hotel, Curbed San Francisco

In June, Curbed SF reported that mega-brand Virgin would open a hotel in San Francisco's South of Market, near the upcoming Central Subway station at Fourth and Folsom. Today the mega-brand revealed new details about the hotel.

A few highlights will include: 196 suites and master suites, several cocktail bars and dining options, including the brand's flagship, The Commons Club, a coffee shop, and a rooftop bar. It will be interesting to see if a rooftop bar will be popular in the chilly and windy area along Fourth Street, but anything is possible. Read more.
