Locavore shoppers take note: Some of the city's most talented makers are uniting at the 4th annual SFMade Week, May 5 -11. Lucky for you, we picked our can't miss favorites, so you can make the most of your time. 


EVENTS: 

Makerhoods

Many of this year's workshops and events are clustered into "Makerhoods," a new concept that highlights SF's two biggest manufacturing districts: Dogpatch and Bayview. The gist is, you can make one trip out to either neighborhood and see mutiple makers all within walking distance of each other!

In Bayview you'll find a Cucumber Kimchi workshop from Sinto Gourmet, factory tours from Speakeasy, Feve Artisan Choclatier, and Pagoda Arts, a kitchen tour at BiRite and killer discount at the DDCC, Sarah Liller SF, and RxOrganics pop-up sale.Then head over to Dogpatch for pop-up shops from Rickshaw Bagworks, iDreamCase & Spicer Bags, and Nosh This, wine tastings from Sutton Cellars, Cellars 33 Winery, A.P. Vin Winery, and Von Holt Wines, a tour plus truffle making class from Kika's Treats, and a chocolate tasting from Poco Dolce Chocolates. Isn't it about time you headed out there anyway?

Ramp it Up! 

Ramp it Up! at the Galleria will feature about 30 SFMade companies showcasing the best of their home and garden products staged in showrooms – a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, an office, and a garden. But that's not all – make sure to come ready to bid on one of the fabulous experiences and products available at auction: a home brewing lesson with a Ritual Coffee Roasters Barista; a Korean cooking class from Sinto Gourmet for 6 people; a Galanter & Jones heated outdoor sofa; a Freyr Chair from Varian Designs; a brewmaster’s tour and tasting for 6 people at Speakeasy Brewery; a Custom shirt from Taylor Stitch; a home design consultation with Lila B. Design; an Oak Blocky Stool from OHIO Design; a Cellars 33 Magnum bottle; or assorted SFMade winery gift certificates. General admission tickets include food and a SFMade goodies bag.

Beer + Wine Trail

Follow the boozy brick road around San Francisco to hit up every special event with independent wineries and breweries around town. Bluxome Street Winery will be offering mini-workshops and galleries of delight along with gourmet truck fare on May 6, Speakeasy is hosting factory tours and tasting every day of the week, Anchor will be hosting a special tasting, and stop for beer and chocolate pairings at Whole Foods. Lilikoi Letterpress Workshop

Letterpress is having quite a moment in SF, and this is your chance to make your own cheeky stationery. The workshop from local makers Lilikoi Design + Letterpress offers an opportunity to learn about letterpress and how Lilikoi operates their 125-year-old, manually operated press named Peach. They will give you the chance to print yourself, and every participant will take home 10 cards and envelopes.If you like what you see, don't miss their pop-up shop every day of SFMade week featuring 20% discount on orders of $20 or more.

Metalsmithing Jewelry Workshop

Sneak a peek inside the studio of Sarah Graham Metalsmithing, where stunning jewelry is created by hand from molten gold, sparkling diamonds, and mysterious oxidized cobalt chrome. You'll see unique jewelry cast from decayed wood or designed on a CAD computer. Sarah and her goldsmiths will be demonstrating the process of jewelry making, culminating in a gold casting (bring a pair of sunglasses!) Afterward, you'll get the chance to tour the studio and create one of kind fingerprint jewelry, plus shop the collection.

Cucumber Kinchi Workshop

Already mentioned as one of the reasons to head to Bayview next week, this kimchi workshop is gonna be delicious. Learn how to make a Rice Farmers’ Lunch (Kimchi pancake, Cloudy Rice Wine, Steamed Rice, Pickles, and Banchans) and your own Cucumber Kimchi with Sinto Gourmet. Plus sample multiple kinds of the tangy Korean topping. (Bring your own knife if possible and a half gallon jar so you can take home your cucumber kimchi.)

Rickshaw Bags Local Good Pop-Up Shop

Just for SFMade Week Rickshaw Bagworks – the folks that make those glamorous commuter bags you've been lusting after – will host a pop-up shop featuring tasty treats from other SFMade makers like Awesome Bars, 479 Popcorn, Kika’s Treats, Nana Joe’s, and more. It's a reoccuring event, so pick the time that works best for your schedule. 

When: Various days and times all week.  

Mitsymoto Designs at Foggy Notion

Jeweler Mitsymoto Designs will be popping up at Foggy Notion this week for a shopping experience you won't want to miss. Lauren Matsumoto is a local metalsmith and installation artist whose work pairs perfectly with Foggy Notion's handmade goods.
