Brit Brand Mulberry Opens in Union Square

Grant Avenue gets a dose of London chic with the opening of Mulberry this week. The opening marks the luxury brand's first foray into the West Coast—it's their first SF store and only freestanding location outside the tri-state area.

Housed in an old, nineteenth-century building, the digs take up three floors—that's 3,100 square feet of retail space—and feature an in-store gallery. Concepted by Universal Design Studio, the SF space reflects Mulberry’s dedication to craftsmanship and its brand heritage while also taking into account the building’s own personality. The elevator, transformed with brushed brass doors and fretwork panels, takes inspiration from London's Bond Street boutique. The walls are tiled in white porcelain, the ceilings are extra high, and the dark wood flooring contrasts the gilded detailing.

The store stocks accessories, shoes, and RTW from Mulberry’s collections, including the iconic Bayswater, the Alexa, and the recently launched Del Rey. Inspired by the old Hollywood glamour of music darling Lana Del Ray, this new line combines retro chic with refined elegance and a touch of understated English style. I've got my eyes on the edgier croc and snake embossed bags. Check them out when the collection hits the store in September.
