Fashion Mashup: Upper Haight meets FiDi

Seeing the (ahem) popularity of last week's mashup of two of the most stereotyped SF neighborhoods got us thinking of how we could possibly follow with another. But alas, once the Haight was mentioned it all became clear. This week's muse is a businessman by day who's a hippie at heart, reflected in his style by adding a dash of 'Summer of Love' flair into his work wear. So turn on some Dead and indulge yourself:

Mission vs. Marina Throwdown on CurbedSF

We stumbled upon quite the SF neighborhood debate fueled by last week's "Fashion Mashup: Mission Meets Marina" and the ever-persistent instigator 'liquidkernel', a feud so heated (and perhaps narrow-minded) that we felt compelled to share some of the more controversial comments below. Add your thoughts to the neighborhood debate here.

Two-Faced and Lovin' It: Alice and Isa Boutique Launches

With dual-minded Gemini ruling overhead and shopping local an ever-more-popular goal among Bay Area fashion fans, it may very well be the perfect time for the arrival of Alice and Isa, sucky economy be damned.

Built upon the notion (one we can agree with, by the way) that every woman has at least two sartorial sides she wishes to variously indulge and devoted to independent apparel and accessories designers living or working in San Francisco, this soon-to-launch online boutique from friends and fashion lovers Dawn Miller and Stephanie Belfiore promises a savvy mix of accoutrements for the kind of local gal who doesn’t draw stark lines between the Mission and Marina.

The Ultimate SF Father's Day Gift Guide

If there’s one rule of Dad gift-giving, it’s this: he’s not going to give you any great gift ideas. After all, if he knew he needed it, he’d already have it. We think the best gifts for Dad are the ones he doesn’t even know he needs.

He may not realize it, but his hard work and dedicated dad-ness probably means he needs some serious R&R. For guy-friendly pampering he won’t come up with on his own, whisk him away to Cocoon Urban Day Spa for a Father’s Day Package that includes a dude-friendly sports massage, manicure, pedicure and – but of course – beer.

Link Love: Bow Heads, the Hated Scrunchie, Posen's Facebook Fashion

What we're reading right now...

During a perusal of the Diane von Furstenberg cruise 2010 collection on View on Fashion, we asked ourselves, what do we think of this big bow trend? You might not catch one on our heads anytime soon, but DVF is hardly the only one embracing these over-the-top accessories. For a local example, check out the recent profile of Liina Gruener on 7x7.

What’s the Deal: Harputs Market, Ladita Closing Sale, Loomstate T-Shirt Recycling

Because paying full retail price is oh-so-passé...

Ladita: We’re sad to report that this Bernal Heights eco-boutique is closing its doors in less than two weeks. Until then, the shop is having a close-out sale that promises eco-friendly apparel, accessories and gifts for women and babies for up to 70 percent off.

Elizabeth Charles: A summer sale is on at this Pacific Heights destination for Australian designers, as well as in the boutique’s online store. Women’s apparel from designers such as Ginger and Smart and Megan Park are going for hundreds off regular prices.

Fashion Mashup: Mission Meets Marina

With our Neighborhoods issue approaching faster than we'd like to admit, it seems like all talk around the office has been centered around SF districts this week. Though the borders between 'hoods can be fuzzy, they certainly each have a distinct style about them. We decided to have a little fun and mash up two seemingly opposite neighborhoods into one look that we could see just as easily on a girl shopping the stroller-lined Chestnut Street as one having a beer at Zeitgeist.

Which two neighborhoods should we combine next?

Taxi CDC Sample Sale, Cheap Drinks, DJ at Shotwell Tonight

Stop by Shotwell tonight from 6-9 p.m. for their 'First Thursday' sample sale event which will feature LA-based Taxi CDC's refurbished vintage wears, as well as the usual suspects: (stiff) $3 cocktails, a DJ, and superb people watching.

This is a party you don't want to miss, trust us.

Newsom's Hair Gets Its Own Twitter Account

We suppose it was inevitable, especially after being featured in this month's Elle. Newsom's perfectly-coiffed hair (which everyone now knows can be credited to L'Oreal Total Control Clean Gel) now has a Twitter account.

Some of our favorite tweets include:

@newsomshair Wishing I was wearing a hat to hide my shame over the CA supreme courts prop 8 ruling. http://tr.im/laud

@newsomshair surrounded by fog??? And wishing he'd take me to the Britney Spears concert.
