Not every bride-to-be is fortunate to have her own Mindy Weiss (wedding planner to the stars - think Eva Longoria, Jessica Simpson and Avril Lavigne). Nope, sometimes we actually have to plan it ourselves. Which, let's be honest, sometimes sucks.
Enter The Four Seasons. All day on Jan. 18, the luxury hotel will play host to the San Francisco Wedding Fair, where bride-to-bes can sip champagne, listen to the sweet sounds of a string quartet and drink, er, plan away her worries with the help of a panel of professionals.
Few things in life are perfect. But most of us, at least once in our lives, have happened upon the perfect pair of jeans. When it happens, it’s a beautiful thing. But let's be honest, it never happens.
Occupation: Women’s Fashion Director, Macy’s West

Favorite place to shop in San Francisco? (laughs) “Well I would have to say Macy’s.”

Generally speaking, the well-known maxim of give, and you shall receive refers to the intangible feelings of good will that come with helping, reaching out and extending oneself for the sake of others. We love those feelings. But sometimes, if we’re being completely honest, we appreciate a carrot. You know, an extra little bit of get-up-and-go to take us from wistfully pondering all the ways to do good in this world to, um, actually getting up and doing one of them. Candystore Collective’s Winter Coat Drive is just the mid-January kick in the pants we need to lend our support to a worthy local organization. Through Jan.
Congratulations. You’ve arrived at the end of the first full work week of the year. Feel like celebrating? Try treating yourself to a little weekend glamour. After all, it’ll be Monday again before you know it.
We here at 7x7 heart MJ. And for his resort ’08 collection, Marc Jacobs hearts, well, hearts. Just check out the new windows at the Marc Jacobs boutique on Maiden Lane, where there’s a veritable heart-themed explosion on everything from embroidered organza dresses to heart-bedecked leather handbags, just in time for that next beloved holiday. We’re head over heels for the red stacked-heel pumps, which have a heart-shaped peep toe opening and, like a tiny secret meant just for the shoes’ owner, a heart-shaped heel bottom. (Don’t forget to come back again in February for our Valentine’s Day online-exclusive gift guide!)
We’ve come across many a disturbing fashion trend in our day, but this one certainly outranks many of them: high heels and shopping bags may make you more attractive to muggers. Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly announced that the flagging economy has coincided with an increase in robberies, and women wearing heels have been frequent targets for purse snatchers and petty thieves. And while sprinting in stilettos seems to work just fine on the silver screen, we wouldn’t recommend that kind of action for San Francisco’s hilly streets.
If you’re not a Fi-Di regular, chances are you haven’t noticed the popular online retailer OnTheFly.com recently opened up a bricks-and-mortar shop in the Embarcadero Center. Formerly based in a little-known warehouse in SoMa, the five-year-old company founded by haberdasher and Russian Hill resident Ami Arad, specializes in all things a stylish gentleman could need from croc-embossed cigar cases and shaving kits to silk ties and tailored trousers.
