Jonathan

For the day: Theory charcoal vest ($225); Hugo Boss grey shirt ($175); Cool Hunting People black jeans ($188); Hugo Boss shoes ($295); black leather belt is stylist's own.

A Shu In

Shu Uemura, in my mind, equates with my simply-can’t-live-without 18K gold lash curler and my wanna-be Madonna faux mink false lashes— so I was a little skeptical when I heard the hubbub about the Japanese cosmetics brand venturing into hair care. I definitely have my preferences when it comes to hair products (whatever I try, I end up going back to Paul Mitchell’s lightweight Super Strong Daily Shampoo and Conditioner, and Bumble and Bumble’s styling lotion for a smooth and shiny finish). Still, as a beauty editor, I’m probably more adventurous then the average person when it comes to using myself as a product-testing guinea pig.

Project Runway’s First Cut

Was anyone else sorely disappointed by the Project Runway Season 4 debut on Wednesday? Not unlike most of us in the fashion world, I was eagerly awaiting the Bravo season premiere to finally arrive, only to see (mostly) one lousy outfit after another come down the catwalk. This first challenge especially should have produced amazing results because the designers were given $50,000 worth of high-end fabrics at their disposal, as opposed to, say, aluminum recyclables or groceries, as in past seasons.

For the day: Diane Von Furstenburg cropped blazer ($403); Milly blouse ($221); Robert Rodriguez black pencil skirt ($380); Susan Jane vintage bracelet ($294); Lisa Stewart gold and pearl bracelet ($152); Melinda Maria earrings ($166); black leather booties are stylist's own.

Beyond Birkin

The perk (and danger) of working near Union Square is the instant access to some of the city’s best shopping. On any given lunch break, you can usually find me meandering in and out of the stores scoping out the latest merchandise en route to a café for a bite to eat. The other day I popped into Hermès, where they’re hosting an impressive jewelry trunk show through Wednesday for Pierre Hardy’s new Fall 2007 Enchainements collection.
