The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show Returns This Month

By

The 34th Annual San Francisco Fall Antiques Show returns this month, October 22-25, with a must-see collection of arts, antiques, and dealers from around the world.

Gone are the days of interior design edicts that instructed us to pick a time period and stick with it. Today, it's cooler to mix those fabulous antiques with more modern interiors. That makes this year's theme, er, timely: Time After Time: Bringing the Past Present focuses on the lasting quality of beautiful vintage pieces.

To kick off the four-day show, the Opening Night Preview Gala (Wednesday, Oct. 21, 7-10pm) will raise a glass of Champagne to some of the best art and antiques from around the world—you'll also enjoy live music, caviar and vodka bars, and sumptuous food. Plus, 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit Enterprise for High School Students, a San Francisco nonprofit that offers students college and career counseling. Consider it guilt-free shopping.

First time? Here's the skinny. Patrons aged 21 to 40 can join the Young Collectors group ($275) for access to the show, lectures, gala, and more special events, including the Young Collectors Evening (Saturday, Oct. 24, 5-7pm), which will highlight affordable items ideal for beginning your collection. Plus, there will be complimentary drinks, hello.

Also be on the lookout for lectures from acclaimed designers Suzanne Rheinstein and Jeffry Weisman, as well as the architects behind Ike Kligerman Barkley

//  Thursday, Oct. 22 through Saturday, Oct. 24, 10:30am to 7pm; Sunday, Oct. 25, noon to 5pm; Fort Mason Center, Festival Pavilion (San Francisco), sffas.org
