7x7 Presents: The 2011 Summer of SVEDKA Mixology Competition
Voting takes place from August 1st through August 31st. The winner of the San Francisco contest will be revealed on September 7th. Have fun trying all the great cocktails, and good luck to all our worthy, wonderful, whimsical bartenders... cheers!
360 Pine Street (at Montgomery)
Cocktail Name: The Spiked Lassi
1.75 oz SVEDKA vodka
.5 oz yogurt
.75 oz honey syrup
.5 oz lemon
2 dashes angostura bitters
2 dashes orange bitters
Bartender's notes: The inspiration for "The Spiked Lassi" is its virgin counterpart, the lassi, served in sweet and savory varieties in most Indian restaurants. The lassi is a creamy, refreshing contrast to the heat of garam masala and other classic Indian spices.
Bar: Izzy's Steaks & Chops
3345 Steiner Street
Cocktail Name: Espresso Martini
2 oz SVEDKA vodka
.75 oz Kahlua
.5 oz Creme de Cocoa (dark and light)
.5 oz Single Espresso Shot
.5 oz half and half
Bartender's notes: Something delicious that could be served before dinner, during the meal and also after for dessert.
Bar: John Colins
138 Minna Street @ New Montgomery
Cocktail Name: BADA BING BOT
In Mixing Glass:
2 Bing Cherries
1/4 Slice lemon
1/8 oz Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Muddle the Above.
Add 1(1/2) oz. SVEDKA Cherry Vodka
.5 oz Antica Carpano
.5 oz Cherry Herring
2 oz of Brut Rose
Bartender's notes: A combination of two classics: champagne cocktail + Manhattan
1233 Polk Street
Cocktail Name: Fem_Bot Fizz
1 oz SVEDKA Cherry
1 oz SVEDKA Vanilla
California Bing Cherrys
Sonoma Pinot Noir
Bartender's notes: My idea behind the cocktail was using California's great wines and local produce, mixing that with the global SVEDKA vodka, a Splash of Old World Italian… Inspired by my living in North Beach!
598 2nd St. at Brannan
Cocktail Name: Swedish Smile
1 1/2 oz of SVEDKA Raspberry Vodka
1/4 oz of 10 y.o. Tawny Port wine
1/4 oz of Peach Liqueur
Fresh raspberries & blackberries, muddled Thai basil leaves
1/2 oz of house-made ginger infusion
1/2 oz of fresh lemon juice
A few dashes of Swedish Herb Bitters and Blood Orange Bitters
1 egg white
Bartender's notes: Because I am from Thailand, I incorporated more exotic ingredients reminiscent of my heritage such as Thai basil and fresh ginger. I added some Port wine and a molecular mixology element—foam—to balance out the flavors.
1760 Market Street
Cocktail Name: Potion #7
1.25 oz Ginger infused SVEDKA vodka.
.25 oz Pure Maple syrup
Splash Apricot Juice
Juice of Lemon Wedge
Pinch Cayenne Pepper
Bartender's notes: This is a crisp yet warming cocktail, inspired by the cold summers of SF. The ginger infused SVEDKA mingles with the apricot, and the pure maple syrup and cayenne lend the cocktail a cosy, earthy kick.
845 Market St. 4th Floor
Cocktail Name: I'M HAPPY NOW
1 1/2 oz SVEDKA Citron
Squeeze half of fresh lemon
1/2 oz of In-House Lemongrass Syrup
Bartender's notes: Shaken and Served in martini glass. Lightly topped with sparkling brut and garnish with lemon wheel.
561 Geary Street
Cocktail Name: My Little Pony
1 oz SVEDKA Raspberry
1/2 oz SVEDKA Citron
3/4 oz Cranberry juice
1/2 oz Frangelico
4-5 dashes of chocolate bitters
4-5 fresh raspberries
Bartender's notes: SVEDKA raspberry has a wonderful full flavor. I love raspberries and chocolate with hazelnut so what better way to enjoy other than in a chocolate bar but in a drink. This can also be topped off with champagne/soda or sprite to make it tall.
