I’m a big believer that more is more. Though it’s fun, and often revelatory, to go to a restaurant and enjoy a particular chef’s talents, it’s even more fun to eat your way through an event that combines the efforts of, say, seven of the country’s best chefs.
That’s what’s coming up this Thursday at Acme Chophouse (24 Willie Mays Plaza, across from the ballpark), when the nonprofit Share Our Strength holds its annual Taste the Nation dinner, which raises money for organizations working to end childhood hunger. Your money goes to a great cause, while your mouth gets busy with several courses cooked by Traci Des Jardins, who recently took home the Best Pacific Chef title from the James Beard Foundation, Tyler Florence, Loretta Keller, Elizabeth Falkner, Thom Fox, Chris Cosentino and April Bloomfield of NYC’s Spotted Pig, recently named one of Food & Wine magazine’s best chefs for 2007.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this is going to be one epic dinner. I have no idea what they’re making, but you can bet I’ll be there scooping up every last morsel. Tickets are on sale at www.tasteofthenation.org.
