I met photographer Abraham (Abe) Espiritu a few years back, and have always dug how he pieces modern and vintage clothing to present personal, yet on-trend looks. Last weekend, I asked him to pull together a few rain-and-shine spring looks for a little photoshoot in his hood, Bernal Heights. The end result included a fantastic mix of rain boots, black-on-black, white pants, sockless oxfords, a cool chambray, and fiery vintage prints. Check it out.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is celebrating 11 years this weekend at Golden Gate Park. Over 50 bands will play on six stages, providing three days of folksy fodder. While the line-up is stronger than ever, we're thinking a scaled-back, bluesy-cool look would be best for shooting the breeze and enjoying the music.
Last week at the Ferry Building, I spotted Sophie and Kelley Hoang -- sisters with two very different styles. Sophie, who was in town from Huntington Beach, had a very LA, beachy-hip look going, while her Kelley was more appropriately dressed for the ever unpredicatble weather we're blessed with in SF.
Thanya Abigail Ponggawa, an Indonesian lovely, currently studying in LA. Thanya was in SF this weekend, "with [her] family for a weekend getaway from the heat in LA." When I first spotted her I actually only saw the back of her outfit, but was then happy to discover her stunning architecural sunglasses and adorable necklace -- the whole outfit is such a fantastic mix.

Now I'm thirsty. Whether you're looking to add to your collection or need a starter bottle, reusable water bottles are a simple way to help the environment, save money and stay hydrated. The main reason I carry one is to help eliminate the use of plastic — watch the documentary Bag It and you'll want to do something. Here's one thing. In a city full of fitness fiends, we have an extensive selection. Here's a guide to the city's coolest, all BPA-Free (BPA is a chemical compound used in manufacturing polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins; it's an endocrine disruptor that mimics estrogen).
I spotted Severine Arend, a photographer, who lives in North Beach, sitting pretty in Union Square. I wouldn't say her outfit is earth-shattering, but her brooch did catch my eye. This photo is more about the enitre scene though--it was strange not seeing anyone moving up and down the stairs, and Severine was just sitting there--quiet and lovely.

We caught Juliette Tang on her way to an Easter dinner party in Hayes Valley. Juliette, who does social media for Zoosk.com, mixed the right textures and colors to create this fun Japanese-school-prep-meets-vintage-cheer look. We love!
What she's wearing: American Apparel yellow striped bow, vintage Pendleton cardigan, Lacoste red polo shirt, orange Longchamp bag, American Apparel corduroy skirt, American Apparel striped stockings.
