Newfangled 3D printing. It's a big deal. Not only has it raised issues of intellectual property rights — everything from medical tools to Disney figurines to fan-created art, all of which could be reproduced using an Autodesk 3D printer, have raised concern with big corporations) — but it was also a plot point on a recent episode of The Good Wife. If you haven't seen works created by three dimensional printers, now is your chance.
Rare Device has really been bringing it with their recent run of artists exhibiting in the shop. Rachel Denny's woodland creatures were divine, the work of Mark Warren Jacques left us elated, and Irana Douer's surreal line drawings stayed in our head for weeks. But with all due respect, we must admit we're most excited about the show that's going up tomorrow. Artist Christopher David Ryan is one of our faves at the moment, and perusing his year of daily images from 2008 is a great way to waste an hour... and end up pining for a 20 or more of his prints.
