Magic Theatre hosted a party for Joan Rivers, who is currently starring in a new play running through Sept. 2 called The Joan Rivers Theatre Project along with local actors Carrie Paff, Susannah Livingston and Lucas Rocco Alifano.

Symphonix Goes South

More than 200 people flocked to former Atherton mayor Charles Marsala's home to raise awareness about Symphonix and the SF Symphony among Peninsula and South Bay young professionals. And of course they came to have fun with a barbecue, music and cocktails poolside.

Symphonix Gala Preview

Symphonix members attended a lecture given by Associate Conductor James Gaffigan at the SF Conservatory of Music. This is one of several preview events leading up to the Symphony's opening gala. Gala co-chairs Makai Fisher and Stefanie Roumeliotes and Symphonix president Roberta Economidis and program chair Peter Boer all joined in the night's festivities.

BRAVO! Club Opening Night Party

BRAVO! Club's Gala Kick-Off Party held last Wednesday at Shreve & Co. included models parading around in designs from the upcoming SF Fashion Week/BRAVO! Gown Show.

An Artful Anniversary

Dorka Keehn, host of radio show Keehn on Art, celebrated her one-year anniversary on the air at Jones (billed as an "American comfort roadhouse"). The weekly interview show on arts and culture airs on Sundays at noon, on AM 960 The Quake.

Symphonix Opening Gala Kick-Off

Symphonix kicked off the Opening Gala season for the SF Symphony with a party in the Spanish Suite at the Clift Hotel.

A Russian Fairy Tale

The SF Symphony’s Opening Night Party was a dreamscape fantasy land inspired by Prokofiev’s fairy tale and symphonic opera, The Love for Three Oranges. The festivities kicked off with an opening performance of the June Festival, Russian Firebrand, Russian Virtuoso.

BRAVO! Wines and Dines

The BRAVO! CLUB's luminary dinner at the Westin St. Francis included a discussion between David Gockley, general director of the SF Opera, and mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. Club members enjoyed a champagne reception before sitting down to a multi-course dinner with wine pairings by Gallo Sonoma Estate.

Picasso Lovers Lounge at the W

"Where Picasso Lovers Lounge," an exhibit of Picasso's original prints including etchings, lithographs and linoleum cuts launched last Thursday in the W Hotel's Extreme Suite and "Living Room" lounge area with a reception. The exhibit, which stretches though June 17, benefits YouthAIDS (The prints are on sale).

Symphonix Summer Soiree

Symphonix sold out its summer soiree, which was held poolside at Bambuddha Lounge last week. More than 350 symphony-goers attended the event.
