Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS brought their Dining By Design tour presented by Elle Décor and GE Monogram to the SF Design Center on Tuesday, November 12 for the Table Hop and Tasting Gala and Wednesday, November 13 for the Dining for Design Gala.

Diamonds and Waffles Party at Barney’s New York

On Tuesday, November 13 high-end jewelry designer Cathy Waterman presented the Diamonds and Waffles party at Barney’s New York. The breakfast event which benefited non-profit organization Children of Shelters featured Waterman’s opulent jewels and nibbles courtesy Boulettes Larder.

SF Author’s Luncheon

The National Kidney Foundation of Northern California & Northern Nevada presented the 19th Annual San Francisco Author’s Luncheon at the Hilton San Francisco. Seven internationally recognized authors, including Michael Chabon, Tom Brokaw and Michael Krasny, each spoke for 15 minutes. All proceeds will go to the programs and work of the NKF of Northern California & Northern Nevada.

Performers for Choice 2007

Performers for Choice, a benefit for NARAL Pro-Choice California and the NARAL Pro-Choice California Foundation, took over Bimbo’s 365 Club for a night of comic relief, remarks from Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America and the presentation of the Champion of Choice award to Dr. Madelyn Kahn, an abortion provider.

Helpers Holiday Cocktail Party

Joy Venturini Bianchi and friends of Helpers of the Mentally Retarded hosted a holiday preview cocktail party at the Ghirardelli Square boutique.

Halloween Heroes Benefit

The Wender Weis Foundation for Children took over the Exploratorium for its 11th annual "Halloween Heroes" benefit. Lori Puccinelli Stern and Peter Stern chaired the event along with honorary chairpersons like 49er Keith Lewis; Giants Kevin Frandsen and Tyler Walker; Giants alum Orlando Cepeda; Oakland Raiders Nnamdi Asomugha, John Bowie, Chris Carr, Justin Fargas and Jeremy Newberry; and U.S. Olympian Brandi Chastain.

This Old Bag at the W Hotel

This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse, which was held at the W San Francisco, raised more than $135,000 for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. Sharon Stone’s donated Versace bag brought in the most money; it was auctioned off for a tidy sum of $8,000.

SF Performances Gala

SF Performances' 28th season gala, "La Dolce Vita," successfully raised more than $100,000 for its education and outreach programs. Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy along with composer/pianist Jake Heggie and Quartetto Gelato performed at the event, which was held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Haight Ashbury Free Clinics Gala

The Haight Ashbury Free Clinics 40th Anniversary Gala was held at the War Memorial Green Room and honored all eight SF mayors in office since 1967. Music producer Narada Michael Walden helped develop a commemorative CD, which is available (with proceeds going to the clinics) at events@hafci.org.

Celebrity Pool Toss

The 15th Annual Celebrity Pool Toss, which was held poolside at the Phoenix hotel, raised more than $1 million for the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation's programs for kids and families. Local celebrities who were thrown into the pool included Robert Mailer Anderson, Daniel Lurie, Chris and Amber Marie Bently, and Joey Altman.
