Celebrity Pool Toss

The 15th Annual Celebrity Pool Toss, which was held poolside at the Phoenix hotel, raised more than $1 million for the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation's programs for kids and families. Local celebrities who were thrown into the pool included Robert Mailer Anderson, Daniel Lurie, Chris and Amber Marie Bently, and Joey Altman.

Bright Lights, Big City Ball

The SF chapter of national nonprofit Rebuilding Together held its ninth annual ball at the Bently Reserve. This year's theme was "Bright Lights, Big City." The party brought together 600-plus attendees who raised more than $90,000.

Burberry held an event benefiting amfAR where 200 or so guests sipped on cocktails while shopping for items from the autumn/winter 2007 collection.

Farallon Blue Ball

PRBO Conservation Science (formerly the Point Reyes Bird Observatory) hosted the first annual "Blue Ball: An Evening Tribute to the Farallon Islands,” at the Bently Reserve, raising more than $150,000 for the organization.

Spinsters' Luxe Fundraiser

The Spinsters of SF threw its big fall charity event, Luxe, at newly renovated 1015 Folsom. More than 400 attendees descended on the party and raised more than $13,000 for for Real Options for City Kids (ROCK).

Macy's Silver Anniversary

Macy's 25th Passport fashion show and HIV/AIDS fundraiser, which took place at Fort Mason's Festival Pavilion, included a titillating striptease by burlesque performer Dita Von Teese, appearances by Cirque du Soleil's "Mystere" dancers and acrobats, and the crème de la crème of SF society.

Fighting AIDS with Diamonds

Some of SF's who's who flew down to Hollywood last week to take part in the Stolichnaya elit auction benefiting DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation for Fighting AIDS at the Bar Marmont. Stolichnaya elit commissioned New York designer Penny Preville to create the The Stolichnaya elit Collection, four one-of-a-kind diamond pieces, for the auction. Actress Rosario Dawson, Ugly Betty's Eric Mabius and haute couture designer Monique Lhuillier were also in attendance.

The Power of the Purse

Harry Denton's Starlight Room was the site of last week's preview party of celebrity and designer handbags, which will be auctioned off at "This Old Bag; The Power of the Purse" on Oct. 19, 2007, at the W San Francisco. Proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. Celebrities who donated their bags include Christina Aguilera, Fran Drescher, Brooke Shields and The Go-Go's.

Red House Party

Catholic Charities CYO’s annual fundraiser, The Red House party, raised $77,000 for its HIV/AIDS programs. Folks including Sunday's a Drag Donna Sachet and CCCYO Board President Cecilia Herbert gathered last Monday at Catch restaurant in the Castro for food, cocktails, music and prizes.
