The Asian Art Museum kicked off a three-day tour of Asia with its Grand Tasting Gala, presided over by chef Martin Yan. The food- and fun-filled gala brought out more than 300 folks and raised $100,000 for the museum.



Mid-Winter Gala

The Fine Arts Museums of SF (Legion of Honor and de Young Museum) threw its fourth annual Junior Committee of the Fine Art's Museum Mid-Winter Gala last weekend at the de Young. The black-tie event grossed a whopping $400,000 for the museums. Vanessa Getty (in Lanvin) and Trevor Traina acted as honorary chairs with Allison Speer and Kathryn Lasater as co-chairs.

Painting the Town Red

The American Red Cross Bay Area hosted the Paint the Town Red Gala, an annual "red tie" event benefiting local disaster preparedness and emergency response efforts, at The Westin St. Francis.

SFCASA: Caring for Our Kids

SFCASA (SF court-appointed special advocates program) held its board of directors luncheon last week at the Bankers Club-Carnelian Room. Dennis Herrera, city attorney of SF, was the featured speaker and honoree.

According to sfcasa.org, "The Board of Directors Luncheon is held annually to raise funds for SFCASA and to increase community awareness of the plight of San Francisco's abused and neglected children in foster care."

Snuggly Soiree

Face painters, the SF who's who, kids and ex-Giants baseball players all took part in the Getty's Snuggly Soiree, which raised funds for the UCSF Children's Hospital Teddy Bear Rescue Fund, founded by Dr. Richard Glogau and wife Pam Baj Glogau.

55th Annual Mardi Gras Ball

Last Friday, The Little Jim Club of California Pacific Medical Center (SF's oldest fundraising organization for pediatrics) held its Mardi Gras Ball at the St. Regis Hotel. The single-largest fundraiser, Barry Barsamian, was crowned king of the ball.

Celebrating Life

Supporters of UCSF's Foundation for Cardiac Research (FCR), which is led by leading cardiologist Dr. Kanu Chatterjee, celebrated the Foundation's work at a party hosted by Ann and Gordon Getty on Saturday night. Guests, including FCR founder Jane Logan, Walter Shorenstein, Beth Townsend and Mark Wagoner, and Therese and Malcolm Post, enjoyed a private concert by Kris Kristofferson, who credits Dr. Chatterjee with saving his life.

Lunching with Ludot

Neiman Marcus held a luncheon featuring French designer Didier Ludot's dresses on behalf of the Junior Committee for the de Young Museum. John Capizzi, VP/GM of Neiman Marcus Union Square, hosted the event with Lucy Buchanan (whose husband is the deYoung director), Kathryn Lasater and Alison Speer.




Arts of Pacific Asia Show Opening

The 11th annual Arts of Pacific Asia Show opening, held in the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason, benefited the education programs of the Asian Art Museum Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art and Culture. The show continues through February 4 (Sunday) and features rare Cambodian Silk Ikats from NY's Chinalai Gallery.

The 2007 Junior League Fashion Show launch party had Look Agency models in Macy's clothes strutting their stuff at the British Motor Cars' Showroom. Lo'renzo Hill styled the show with Patrick Evan Salon taking care of hair and make-up.
