A Guide to San Francisco's Bike Symbols and Infrastructure

San Francisco streets are changing.

San Francisco Rated #2 Best City for Biking in the Country

Last month’s international ranking of the best biking cities in the country didn’t include a single United States city. Amsterdam, Copehagen and a slew of other European cities topped the list, but nothing in the states.

Spring Bling for You and Your Bike

There’s no reason that your Easter bonnet, big wheel or Hunky Jesus outfit should be the only color this spring.

Ladies, Get on Your Bike and Ride!

Women on bicycles, 1898 from Victoria and Albert Museum

When I first started biking in San Francisco eight years ago, I was one of only a few women riding. On a morning commute, I’d recognize and often know every other lady pedaling downtown. We were a small, tough group who battled the much less civil streets.

Forget online dating, try looking for love the old fashioned way: In a panel of three people vying for a date with the same sweetie. Pioneered in the 70s with The Dating Game and continuing on in reality TV, it’s a tried and true way of finding love—or at least drama.

A Perfect Post-Holiday 20-Mile Bike Ride: SF to Tiburon

Like most of us, the week between Christmas and New Years is spent eating cookies, lounging on the couch, watching movies, and drinking a lot. You know, having fun! But it’s probably time to get moving.

Here’s a perfect post-holiday bike ride to pedal off the pounds and take in some of the Bay Area’s most gorgeous scenery. This 20-mile ride is filled with ocean vistas, rolling hills and a lovely ferry ride back. And don’t worry, if the ferry isn’t coming for a bit, you can always grab a Bloody Mary or ice cream in Tiburon. Hey, no need to give up the holidays that fast. It’s not even New Years yet.

Scenes of the City: AMGEN Tour of California Bike Race

The prestigious Amgen Tour of California passed through our great city on Monday morning, leaving the Marina waterfront at 11 am. The eight-day cycling road race features elite professional teams and athletes from around the world. Fans lined the streets of the City as the peloton sped west, and then sharply turned south following the Great Highway out of town. Enjoy photos from the starting line.
