Big Eat SF
Michael Meadows completed the Big Eat scavenger hunt on Food Spotting on February 24, barely three weeks after the February issue of 7x7 containing the 2010 Big Eat came out! We were stunned. We were curious. After congratulating him (and getting ready to send off his winning prize of dinner for two at Quince and a stay at a hotel), we got down to the nitty gritty.
The call for ideas for The Big Eat 2010 has elicited so many great responses, I thought I'd list them (verbatim) for you so you don't have to sort through the comments. We're almost done narrowing it down, but we want to hear if you think any of these are BIG enough to merit a slot.
Restaurants come and go, chefs change (and signature dishes suffer the consequence) and bartenders move around like musical bar stools, but The Big Eat SF—100 Things to Eat & Drink Before You Die—must go on! We're ramping up for our February food issue upon when the reconsidered and revitalized Big Eat 2010 will be released.
People are always asking me where to eat, but really, it should be what to eat. No restaurant is perfect across the board. Getting the most out of restaurants is a matter of knowing what to order.
So, for you—and for ourselves—we've compiled The Big Eat SF, a list of 100 dishes and drinks "to try before you die." (If San Francisco was a restaurant, this would be its menu.) Don't think of this as a morbid activity though. Think of it as a celebration of life.
