disposable film festival
On December 2nd, Union Square's beautiful, 1920's salon inspired Hotel Rex hosted a modern-day salon for an evening celebrating local, hand-crafted art, workmanship, and cocktails! The jovial guests enjoyed live music, short films from the Disposable Film Festival, artisan cocktails by Hendrick's Gin, and vendor tables from local artists. A portion of the evening's proceeds benefitted 826 Valencia, the acclaimed community non-profit program supporting the education of thousands of students in the literary arts.
Tomorrow after work, head to downtown's Hotel Rex to shop local handcrafted goods, sip specialty cocktails, screen works from the Disposable Film Festival, and jam to music by our own music reporter Kevin Meenan (of the bands epicsauce and Electric Sunset), and grab raffle prizes from Rickshaw Bags and Globe bikes, all to benefit the great 826 Valencia.
For the second year in a row, the Disposable Film Festival will join the Bike Week celebration with a bike-in movie screening in the parking lot of the Good Hotel. This year's festivities start at 4pm with tasty treats from ForageSF's Underground Market. Show up by 7 to get in on the raffle, which includes Crumpler bags, 2 nights at the Good Hotel, and a limited edition bicycle from Globe Bikes. Screening begins at 8pm. Cost? Nothing! Just bring a blanket or your camping chairs, and the SFBC volunteers will take care of parking your bike. Check out the video after the break for an idea of what last year's event looked like.
With the temperature forecast to warm up this week, two great bike events are going on that combine film, entertainment and bicycles. And if you don't already know how much fun bikes can be, you will after this week.
