Zoe Saldana, Clifton Collins Jr to Receive SF Film Festival's Midnight Awards

The San Francisco Film Festival's fourth annual Midnight Awards will be presented Saturday night at the W Hotel, with Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar) and Clifton Collins Jr (Star Trek, TV's The Event) on hand to receive the honors. The awards presentation is open to the public, and will be fashioned after the format of a late-night talk show, with New York Times bestselling author Beth Lisick playing Johnny Carson and the Darren Johnston Trio providing live musical accompaniment.

Back in the New York Groove: Woody Allen Opens Tribeca

Joined by festival co-founder Robert De Niro and current leading man Larry David, Woody Allen opened the Tribeca Film Festival last Thursday with Whatever Works, a wry romantic comedy starring David and San Francisco International Film Festival honoree Evan Rachel Wood.

Highly-caffeinated film gurus--you'd have to have consumed a couple cappucinos to make it out that late--convened at the stylish W Hotel on Saturday night as the clock struck 12 to catch a glimpse of big-screen starlets Evan Rachel Wood and Elijah Wood. As part of the San Francisco International Film Festival's opening weekend, each was a recipient of a Midnight Award (hence the twilight hour) for their individual achievements in film.
