Fillmore Street's Pizza Inferno is Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot

Pizza and beer. You can find this classic combo all over the city. However, Fillmore's Pizza Inferno now carries the largest selection of draft beers on Fillmore and has a VPN certified pizzaiolo. That is, new Chef Ettore Rusciano is a member of Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) and hails from Naples, the birthplace of the pizza. Pizza Inferno also has an extended happy hour. Still the same chill spot at the corner of Fillmore and Sutter, Pizza Inferno is hot.

Reason to Love Wednesdays: Pork Happy Hour at Fatted Calf

Warning: Carnage to ensue. Vegans may want to skip this one. 

If you were wondering what the three happiest words in the English language are, wonder no more: Pork Happy Hour.

Every Wednesday, Fatted Calf on Fell Street has a whole hog delivered in the morning. At 5:30, they throw open the doors to pour Magnolia’s Blue Bell Bitter and serve Mexican chorizo sausage to the hordes as they watch the ceremonial butchering of the pig. Developed to educate people about how meat is carved, Fatted Calf encourages picture-taking, question-asking, and generally making a nuisance of yourself as you watch and eat. 

SFBC Happy Hour!

There are only two Thursdays left in July, which means there are only two SFBC Happy Hours left! SFBC happy hour is like those magical hours at your favorite bar but instead of deals on booze in one palce, the SFBC pick a location along popular commutes each week and offers tasty treats, a free tire pumping, and deals at local businesses. This week's happy hour is at Fell and Masonic, so for those of you who regularly wiggle your way home to the Haight and beyond, this is your chance to catch some free stuff during your commute. Next week catch happy hour at Duboce Park. SFBC Happy hour runs from 5-7.

Basque Happy Hour at Bocadillos

I can't say how pleased I was to get the press release from one of my favorite SF restaurants, Bocadillos, that it is now offering a Basque happy hour menu from 5-7. Having visited Basque, Spain for the first time last fall, I can verify that every hour in that wonderful town of San Sebastian is a happy one, especially come evening in San Sebastian, when the town's myriad bars open their doors. Inside, revelers find the txacoli (a light, tart, slightly sparkling white wine) flowing and set platters of the world's tastiest drinking food, pintxos--or tapas, as we know them.
